Mr. Antonio Hernandez

Yesterday wandering through the city I bumped into this very particular workshop, full of old pieces of sculptures and paints… looked like a museum. I knocked the glass door in the entrance, and was greeted by a particular gentlemen, polite but of strong convictions. His name is Antonio, and has been doing art restorations through all his lifetime. Its a 200 year family tradition which he intends to maintain. I stayed on the store for at least an hour hearing him talk about art restoration.

He specialises in religious figures, but now a days, as he said ,churches are not sending much, so he has to expand his business into all different kind of items…

He seemed very old school and condemned todays training since it makes technical people but not artists, “If you want to restore a painting you need to be a painter, and if you want to restore a sculpture, you need to be a sculptor first”.

Pictures shot with a Leica m240 plus 28mm 2.8 elmerit.
